Canvas 35 Gallery is owned and operated by Terry and Carlee Burnett.
Terry was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from The Dallas Arts Magnet High School Booker T. Washington.
Over the course of the last 30 years, Terry has been developing his artistic talent in many areas including painting, metal sculpture, airbrushing, woodworking, and tattooing. He has created several of the most well known and loved sculptures in the Grand Valley including "Breakfast." the apple core sculpture on 7th and Main Street, "Flutterby," the kinetic butterfly at the Botanical Gardens, "Whooshie," the swordfish at Lincoln Park Moyer Pool, and "Kryptonite," the 13ft tall seahorse that now sits outside of Canvas 35 Gallery. Terry continues to create custom metal creations from sculptures to staircases, and everything in between.
Carlee was born in Escondido, California and moved to Colorado when she was 3 years old. Aside from a short stint in Kansas, Carlee has lived in the Grand Valley for most of her life and graduated from Palisade High School in 2003.
Though she dabbled in different areas of art over the years, she never found anything that particularly moved her until the fall of 2021. She has always loved glass in any form, so when she found out that stained glass classes were offered at a local gallery, Terry encouraged her to sign up, and she immediately fell in love. In early 2022, the gallery owner asked her to come manage and she gladly accepted. She managed the gallery for about a year and a half before returning home and gained a broad range of glass working skills that she still uses today including designing and creating custom pieces, repairing broken pieces, and teaching stained glass classes at her private studio.
Carlee currently serves as the Chairman for the Fruita Arts and Culture Board, a member of the Board of Directors for the Grand Valley Creative Alliance, and a board

Terry moved to the Grand Valley in 1999 from Dallas Texas, where he graduated from the Dallas Arts Magnet High School, Booker T. Washington. Over the course of the last 30 years, he has developed a broad range of artistic skill sets including painting, airbrushing, metal and sculpture fabrication, tattoo work, glass work, woodwork, and anything else he can get his hands on. Most recently he has taken up oil painting on local Colorado marble pieces.
Carlee has lived most of her life in the Grand Valley after moving here from California at the age of 3. She graduated from Palisade High School in 2003, and while dabbling in different art mediums over the years, she never felt a passion for it until the fall of 2021 when she took a stained-glass class at a local gallery. In early 2022, the gallery owner asked her to manage the gallery and Carlee gladly accepted. As she managed the gallery for about a year and a half, she developed a skillset in glass that has since expanded and diversified. She now teaches stained glass classes at her private studio, repairs damaged stained-glass pieces, and creates custom pieces including sculptural and mosaic.
Terry and Carlee have been big community supporters for years and are now excited to bring their dream to life and give back to the community they so dearly love.
Carlee is currently the Chairman for the Fruita Arts and Culture Board, a member of the Board of Directors for the Grand Valley Creative Alliance, and a member for the Board of Directors for the Fruita Foundation through the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce.
